National First's with the Naugler House
Southern Exposure Construction constructed the Naugler House starting in the fall of 2011 and over the winter of 2012. It is the first house in New Bruswick that has been built to the Passive House Energy standard. This all translates to very very low heating bills. (a estimated $100 a year) You can check in on the actual daily consumption of the house at in the Daily Data section
Now that the Naugler House is finished we have claimed two impressive titles.

Once of the Most most airtight Home in Canada
We achieved a Blower door test of 0.19 Air changes per hour at a pressure of 50kph (compared to the average new construction being between 2-3 ACH @50kph and the R2000 standard of 1.5 ACH @50kph).
We were number one until Tim built a passive house with a Blower door test of 0.17 ACH@50kph. Great!! and now I believe we have been surpassed by some other builders in BC!!!
This means the house will have a more comfortable living environment with better control of indoor air quality, and lower power bills.

Lowest heating demand of any home in Canada
The Naugler House get's approximately 76% of its heat free from the sun. But when it's cloudy and cold out there is a heater about the size of a toaster that provides enough heat to keep the house warm!
This heater is hooked into the fresh air supply of the air exchanger that provides a constant stream of fresh, healthy, warm air.
